GIS Day Student Competition

The GIS Day Savannah Committee is excited to announce the 2019 GIS Day Student Competition!

The GIS Day 2019 Student Competition is designed to support and encourage students to complete scientific research using GIS as part of their educational experience in secondary, undergraduate, and graduate programs. All major fields of study are invited to participate.

Each project must have a geospatial analysis component and a map showing this aspect of your research. Undergraduate and graduate students should create a research poster or web application, which states the problem or question being investigated, summarizes literature review with appropriate citation, and shows results and discusses conclusions. Middle and high school students can create a separate written document containing these components in lieu of a poster. The map component for the project can be either a printed map, or an online map (webmap, storymap, or web application) which shows the analysis conducted.

Winners will be notified by email or phone on or before Friday November 8. Awards will be announced at GIS Day on November 13.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 entries in each of the following categories:

Graduate Students

    1st Place: $300
    2nd Place: $150
    3rd Place: $75

Undergraduate Students

    1st Place: $300
    2nd Place: $150
    3rd Place: $75

Middle & High School Students

    1st Place: $150
    2nd Place: $75
    3rd Place: $25
